Welcome to our Adoption Associates of Iowa website! Putting up a website turns out to be quite a bit of work – but worth it. We are eager to introduce our new concept of providing in-home adoption services as a team. We are a team of professionals ready and organized to provide each other back up, advice, support and assistance so that everyone’s adoption can proceed seamlessly – no matter what happens.

In December of 2011, our friend, Ed Nahas, who had served hundreds of adoption families for many years, suddenly passed away. Because he and I had discussed a mutual back-up plan in case one of us became incapacitated, we had an agreement to assume each others cases if something like this happened. That does not mean, however, that I was ready! The sudden responsibility for so many new families at various stages in their adoption process was a serious challenge, and required a lot of scrambling. Ed’s family was so very supportive, allowing us, even in the midst of their own shock and grief, to access Ed’s files and data in his home office so that his adoption families could go forward with their family building plans without interruption. My wife, a legal assistant, was indispensable in helping find and organize the files, and send letters to Ed’s many families.

From this came a lesson – and a plan. The lesson to providers: Plan for this kind of emergency to continue to serve your adoption families who are engaged in the most important moment of their lives – bringing a child into their family. The plan: Build a team of professional associates in adoption who are always in contact, share a common data base, and can assume responsibility for any case at any moment necessary.

That’s who we are, and that’s what we’re doing. It has taken a year to bring ourselves together and establish Adoption Associates of Iowa.

We all look forward to working with families who want to adopt by providing the best home study and post-placement services, birth parent services, and effective help in finding the right match for your adoption plans, whether domestic or international.

For the Team,
