Welcome, and thank you for taking an interest in our profile! We know that adoption can be a hard decision to make for any birth parent, but the ultimate goal is to provide the best opportunities, support, and nurturing family life that every child deserves. We are eagerly awaiting to be that family and support system! Although we are unable to have children naturally, we lean on our faith as it leads us down the path of adoption, and openly accept any birth parent that will consider us a potential match as adoptive parents.
Tony and Dana have been together for 5 years and married for 3 as of October 11, 2016! They first met in Australia while on deployment with the Iowa Air National Guard. There was a layover in Hawaii in which Tony saved Dana from losing her ID card. While deployed, Dana could not help but to appreciate his fast smiles while completing shop visits and the joking she endured from him for saving her. “He’s always checking to make sure I haven’t lost anything!”
Both Tony and Dana are very faith based and family oriented people. They put their faith and family above all else. They both carry strong similar family values to include working together as a team and respect for each other. Both support one another whole heartedly in whatever endeavor they are currently involved in, as well as those they are completing together. They also value friendship as an important element of a stable relationship. Their friends provide a strong extension to their family.
Others would describe Tony and Dana as always ready to laugh and enjoy friends and family. They are supportive of their friends and family. They will always try to lend a hand where needed at any time. They provide a solid support system to one another and enjoy being around each other.
Tony and Dana appreciate nature and enjoy being involved in outdoor activities whether it be camping, fishing, or hiking. They can often be found playing yard games or board games with friends and family. They also enjoy traveling and experiencing new things with each other to include trying new restaurants or visiting different local areas of interest when out of town or out of state. They both enjoy music and going to concerts with friends and family.
WHAT BROUGHT US TO ADOPTION
Dana is unable to naturally conceive with Tony and their faith has pointed them towards adoption. Tony already has two wonderful children (Christian, 20, and Megan, 18) from a previous marriage. They would like the chance to parent a child together, expand their family, and share the love that they have to any child they adopt.
Dana is a Nurse Practitioner who interacts with all ages on a daily basis. She spent much of her teenage and early adult years caring for other neighborhood families’ children. Both she and Tony currently spend a lot of time with family and friends being sure to involve their children in any activity they are going to be doing. Tony has raised 2 wonderful children, Megan (18) and Christian (20). Christian has since left home and is currently serving as a US Marine living in California. Megan is a senior in high school and is looking forward to nannying for her new brother or sister while attending college.
Our pets include Deja, a 3 year old Keeshond, Sydney, a 2 year old Golden Retriever, and the newest member Stormie, a 6 month old tuxedo kitten. All 3 animals are very much loved. Sydney is always ready to play and fetch. She is also quick to kiss and show affection towards family and friends. Deja is a little shy at first, but also quick to show affection towards friends and family. Stormie fits right in playing with Deja and Sydney, but also likes to show them he is man of the house.
HOLIDAYS AND TRADITIONS
Tony and Dana usually alternate holidays with Dana’s aunt Connie in hosting Easter, Christmas, and Thanksgiving. These holidays are all about gathering around family and spending time with each other. After eating way too much home cooked food, such as aunt Connie’s homemade noodles and gravy, a game of cards is usually played. Holidays such as the 4th of July, Memorial Day, and Labor Day are either spent with family or camping with friends. Holidays are always spent with family members in one way or another. Memorial Day is spent with family and paying respects at the graveside of passed loved ones.
Every Halloween is spent at Sleepy Hollow and visiting the various park attractions for that year. This is usually followed by getting a hot apple cider or other hot drink. Right after Thanksgiving Dinner or the following day, the house and Christmas tree are decorated for Christmas as a family. Taking a tour of the Jolly Holiday Lights is done each year while drinking hot chocolate or other hot drink. The family also attends the “Holiday Stroll”. With most family members being veterans, the family often meets at Meskwaki for the Veteran’s Day event. Every August a trip is planned to the Iowa state fair, usually spent eating themselves through the fair and ending with a concert. It is also a family tradition to attend local home and garden as well as RV shows as a family. May is usually spent going to Pella and enjoying “Tulip Time.”
Dana is fun and outgoing. She is family oriented and would do anything for her family and friends. She is an animal lover and enjoys spending time with Sydney, Deja, and Stormie. She enjoys staying active and trying new things.
She is intelligent and values education. Dana graduated with her Master of Science in Nursing and became board certified as a Advance Nurse Practitioner. She not only uses this knowledge to take great care of others, but also her family. This also expands into her military career serving in the Air Force (currently Air National Guard) for the
past 16 years. She started out as a medical technician, but has since been commissioned as a Nurse Practitioner there as well. She is a dedicated worker and lifelong learner.
She enjoys camping, fishing, hiking, and being one with the outdoors. Dana enjoys traveling and has visited Australia, American Samoa, Canada, Puerto Rico, the Middle East, and various states the in United States. She looks forward to family time whether it be playing board or yard games, watching movies, or outings to local attractions and events. She also enjoys reading and listening to music. She is completely supportive of her stepchildren and myself. Dana is a good provider to her family and a natural nurturer. She is ready and willing to support her own child as well as provide guidance as the child grows as a part of our family. She is always ready to smile. The thing that gives her the most joy is spending time with her friends and family. She is supportive of our family and always willing to compromise or come to mutual agreement rather than engage in arguments.
Anthony is caring and sensitive. He always places family first. He is willing to help others without question without expecting anything in return. He puts his children’s happiness and wellness above all else.
He currently works in Emergency Management as Active Guard and Reserve (AGR) with the Air National Guard. He is enrolled at Upper Iowa University studying for his Bachelor in Public Safety/Emergency Management to expand his knowledge in this particular career field. He is a dedicated worker and motivated to learn more. He has served over 20 years honorably in the United States Air Force and has completed any mission or task assigned to him with zeal. He is also a great mentor to those he supervises or works with sharing any experience or expertise he has with coworkers. Anthony enjoys camping and being outdoors. He likes family time spent playing yard/board games. When able to, he enjoys going to area speedways. He also enjoys concerts with friends and spending time sightseeing.
My favorite date with Antony was spent dancing and playing pool at various local establishments. We also try to make it a Valentine’s Day tradition to get a couple’s massage where we can destress and relax with one another.
Anthony already is a GREAT father. I could not ask for better stepchildren. He is supportive and sensitive to their needs. He lets them make their own choices, but provides parental guidance and wisdom when needed.
We live in a small rural community with a population of approximately 1,685. Although a smaller town, it is only 22 minutes from our metro and only a short drive to some surrounding towns where we celebrate small town traditions and activities. Our school district is made up of two small towns. We are in between both the University of Iowa and Iowa State University, with several of the states’ colleges and other universities within a short distance. Iowa is a state of education and we are very proud to be apart of it and offer that to our children.
The church we attend is in town. It is a small town atmosphere where families get to know one another and spend time together as a community. There are various community events such as “Prairie Days” that the community is involved in. We have a ton of wildlife surrounding us, including Buffalo that roam the grounds. Near us there is Principal Park, home of the Iowa Cubs. There is Barnstormer football, Iowa Energy basketball, as well as Iowa Wild hockey. Our metro also has a botanical center, science center, and art center. We also enjoy our Iowa Speedway which is close to our home.
We have a great support system! All of our friends, and some of our family live close by. Other family members live within just a few hours away which makes for a great road trip!
Our home is very comfortable. It is a place where we gather to relax and spend time as a family. There is nothing better than coming home after a long day at work and having a home cooked meal. There is not a place in the home that is off limits! We like to sit on the decks enjoying the weather or barbequing. The yard is used to play with our pets as well as engage in yard games. Everyone is welcome, we try to have friends and family over for meals. The holidays in the home are very inviting accompanied by decorations, food, family, and friends.
Thank you for reading our profile and learning more about our family and what we have to offer a child. We look forward to becoming parents together and providing endless opportunities as well as fulfilling dreams.
